SMS Dance Program

Ballet technique
A one hour flat class devoted to the mastery of ballet technique

Ballet with additional pointe/30 minute variation class
This class is for students already on pointe or aspiring to dance on pointe by the next trimester

Ballet repertoire
The performing company of the SMS dance department. Classes include flat and variations in ballet, Russian character, and pointe or pre-pointe. Dancers will perform at least three times per year.

Jazz/Hip Hop
A vigorous, fast paced class with instruction in both classical jazz moves and contemporary hip hop dance styles

Lyrical
The fusion of ballet and jazz technique. Interpreting music or lyrics, this type of dance shows the audience the emotion of the particular piece.

Dance repertoire
A more extensive performing company of the SMS dance department. Performances focus on jazz, lyrical, and hip hop as well as ballet and character.
